PEPTI CalBloom | Early Learning EveryDay supports the use of embedded, evidence-based instructional practices through job-embedded professional learning including Practice-Based Coaching.

PEPTI is part of the larger CalBloom project, funded by the California Department of Education. The CalBloom framework of job-embedded professional learning, including Practice-Based Coaching (PBC), uses embedded learning practices and individualized learning plans aligned to the child’s Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) results and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. The professional learning is designed to facilitate positive adult-child interactions and support a child’s learning and development during everyday routines and activities. Implementation is focused on identifying a child’s “Next Step Skills” toward individualized learning goals. PEPTI CalBloom provides professional learning for the CalBloom Early Learning EveryDay Framework of Supports across six Local Education Agencies (LEAs) throughout California. At each site, Statewide Implementation Coaches work collaboratively with program administrators, LEA coaches, and practitioners to install and implement PBC and the CalBloom practices in their preschool programs.

PEPTI CalBloom Support of Scale-up and Sustainability

We support program leaders to develop and implement the professional development system that provides coaches and teachers with a variety of supports, including PBC and embedded learning practices, to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to implement, scale-up, and sustain their program’s use of instructional practices. The results demonstrate ongoing practice implementation with fidelity, leading to improved outcomes for preschool children with disabilities and their families.

The Desired Results Access Project (DR Access)

The Desired Results Access Project Director, Dr. Elizabeth Schroeder, oversees the statewide data collection and reports system for DRDP preschool child outcome data, including from PEPTI CalBloom sites. These data are drawn from the DRDP assessment results that Local Education Agencies collect for all children 0-5 years old with IFSPs and IEPs each fall and spring.
